CHRISTMAS!
I found some great pieces online at Hobbycraft, and got inspired to make some bits and bobs.
So far I've made a couple of wreaths, a couple of plaques, and a bauble...not a bad start considering we're only a third of the way through October!
Firstly I was Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-3405167885572913722018-06-23T13:50:00.001+01:002018-06-23T13:50:34.266+01:00Is there anybody still out there?
HELLO...
HELLO...
LISA CALLING...
IS THERE ANYBODY THERE???
Ha ha....wow, it's been a while, huh?
So much has happened since the last time I was here...
4 house moves (yes, you read that right - 4! Don't ask ha ha!),
1 engagement (yes, me - after 11 years together!),
2 new sewing machines (you can never have too many, right?),
and a keyboard!
Phew!
Well, now things have Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-39734441017166227982015-05-29T16:26:00.002+01:002018-06-23T14:05:59.478+01:00Simplicity New Look Competition Hi everyone! Long time no see! I haven't had much time for sewing lately as I've been concentrating on getting myself fit and healthy, but I saw this competition mentioned in the latest Love Sewing magazine and just knew I had to enter! Unfortunately I only saw it on the 19th of May, and the competition ends on the 31st so I knew I had to get my tail in gear to get it done! There were three Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-12016939652014860452014-06-03T11:39:00.001+01:002014-06-03T11:49:47.051+01:00Of a magazine, a pattern, and a dress. . .
A few weeks ago I saw a new magazine that was being launched called Love Sewing, and it looked good so I decided to give it a try - it's fantastic! Lots of projects, new fabric lines, interviews, helpful articles, free gifts and patterns...what's not to love? I'm now subscribed so I don't miss an issue!
The free pattern in this issue was a downloadable one from Simple Sew Patterns&Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-28399727403281192692014-05-06T11:20:00.000+01:002014-05-06T11:24:27.741+01:00Gadget Slip Case Tutorial for Father's Day
Here in the UK, next month is Father's Day (Sunday June 15th) so if you are stuck for present ideas I thought I'd share this little tutorial with you for these quick, simple but attractive gadget cases.
The tutorial will work for most gadgets (iPads, Kindles, iPhones, tablets etc) - all you need are the dimensions!
You will see in my photos I cut fabric for a matching iPad and iPod Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-58765763696411361592014-04-13T20:52:00.002+01:002014-04-13T20:54:53.152+01:00A jacket for Jamie
I've had this black and white check fabric sitting around for a while now. I just couldn't make up my mind what to make with it...a dress? Skirt? Bag?
I decided to look through my sewing books for inspiration, and suddenly came across a lovely pattern for a reversible jacket for Jamie in Sewing for Boys!
I had seen it in there before when using the book for other things, but had never made it...Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-56312875801288041452014-03-10T14:14:00.000+00:002014-03-10T14:16:44.237+00:00Hillary's Blinds competition!
Hillary's Blinds are running a competition at the moment...they send you one metre of fabric from their new 'Country Retreat' blinds collection, you make something with it, then blog about it...and you could win £1000!
Of course I had to have a go! I picked the 'Wild Poppies Vermillion' fabric, and thought it would go really well with some denim - so I cut up a couple of old pairs of Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-14414804443159444872014-01-19T14:41:00.001+00:002014-01-19T14:48:04.850+00:00Sew & Stitch
I saw the advertisment on the tv for this, and absolutely fell in love with the quilt project - I'm a massive fan of anything seaside/boat related! I mentioned it to the Mr., and he offered to get it for me...well, how can a girl refuse? Lol!
It has some lovely little projects in it besides the quilt, and I've made a couple already - this bag (that comes as a free gift if you subscribe) ...

The past half term holiday, Jamie and I went to my Mum's house for a few days (the Mr. was in L.A.) and while we were there she taught me the basics of how to knit!I had tried it as a youngster, like you do, and got in a horrible mess...I could knit you a triangle, but anything of the square-ish persuasion and I was stumped!
It had never stopped me wanting to learn though, so we went for it...Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-62256643809312352822013-12-09T13:35:00.003+00:002013-12-09T13:38:14.377+00:00Christmas Crafts!
So far this year we've (my 6 year old lad Jamie and I!) been cracking on with my plan to have a fully 'hand made' tree...we're not there yet, but hopefully in a couple of years we will be! It was fun pulling out decorations we made last year though!
Here's some of them, last year's and this...
The stocking (yes, that is what that is!), the red stars and the ice skate were all from last Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-65689244793955378652013-12-05T10:42:00.001+00:002013-12-05T10:42:42.156+00:00Wow, look at the cobwebs in here!
I think it's about time I came and gave the place a spruce up - not been here in months! As I've said before, I thought I'd have more time on my hands for blogging when the small one was at school, not less! Or maybe I've been spending more time crafting than I have blogging, which seems like a good thing?
But anyway, I'm starting this New Year's resolution early, and over the next few days Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-30339467015199815582013-01-14T14:14:00.002+00:002013-01-14T16:28:12.045+00:00Campfire's burning. . .
One of the talented mamas over at Sewing Mamas made one of these recently, and I fell in love with it, so I thought I'd have a go at one for Jamie.
He loves it so much we had to have a 'campfire' dinner round it the night I gave it to him, and he now wants a tent ha ha!
Thanks for looking!

Ok, ok, I know it's been 2 weeks already...I never said I was on the ball ha ha! But however
belatedly, I am wishing that you had a wonderful festive season and that you have a fantastic and creative 2013! So no resolutions here, other than wanting to blog and create MORE! I'm so bad at the blogging part!To kick off this year, I'm currently working on a new blog design, so don't pass out if Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-57303826912832236562012-11-11T11:25:00.000+00:002012-11-11T11:25:17.069+00:00Christmas sewing!
Well after seeing all the Christmas ads on tv, and especially the Coca Cola one (it's like a tradition in our house, being the first one to spot it on the TV lol!), I thought I should sew something Christmassy!
I thought I'd have a go at sewing something a bit different from my usual fare, as there are only so many Kindle, Ipad, and phone cases you can sew before you go mad lol!
I picked the Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-60718186354488373322012-11-02T14:59:00.001+00:002012-11-02T15:01:07.749+00:00And here it is . . .
Jamie's wardrobe for the Sewing Mamas Ottobre Sewing With a Plan contest!
(I got all the patterns from one issue - 1/2011)
It was awesome fun, and I think my favourite thing of the whole contest were these photo poses I got while trying to get 'proper' shots for the composite picture above - this boy REALLY loves the camera!
Here are some 'detail' shots - there was a LOT Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-68605211439395597282012-10-25T13:36:00.001+01:002012-10-25T13:37:59.221+01:00What I've been doing for 6 weeks. . .
I've been taking part in a S.W.A.P. (Sewing With a Plan) competition over on the Sewing Mamas forum!
Basically you have to sew an 8 piece coordinating seasonal wardrobe in six weeks. As the competition was sponsored by Ottobre , six of the patterns used had to be by Ottobre. You had to sew 3 bottoms, 3 tops, and then any other two garments.
Well, I've just finished Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-33403229320841584282012-08-16T13:37:00.001+01:002012-09-24T10:16:50.621+01:00Adventures in Quilting Part 2!
I've finally managed to get some more done on the quilt...as in I've finally sewed some of it lol!
It's not as 'square' as I would like, there are a few mistakes here and there.....but it's done, and for a first attempt (and considering I hand cut all the squares with scissors!) I'm pleased with it! I added a pinwheel in the centre, but it's just laid on here as I'm still not sure Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-39585120899492075402012-08-16T13:31:00.000+01:002012-09-24T18:28:29.199+01:00I blame the Olympics....
Well it seems like I haven't been here forever...I really need to do a big catch up post! (I say that a lot, don't I?)
What with the end of term, school holidays, and the Olympics, I don't seem to have had much time for anything lately!
I didn't expect that I would get caught up in the Olympics as much as I did...I seemed to watch everything from Dressage to TaeKwondo and everything&Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-46124048176177867032012-06-20T20:39:00.002+01:002012-06-20T20:39:44.964+01:00My adventures in Quilting . . . part 1
I've been thinking of making a quilt for a while now...and I've been looking at loads of styles, materials, techniques etc. I was planning on doing a tshirt quilt, but then totally changed my mind and decided on a cotton one. It's also a bit of a memory quilt - I've upcycled a lot of fabric and I have part of a shirt of my Dad's, a blouse of my Mum's, a shirt of Russ's, one of mine, and one Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-77686343135666659522012-06-09T20:08:00.005+01:002012-06-09T20:08:46.947+01:00OK, ok . . . and another couple!
However this one is for me!It will be my 'go to' summer bag I think, I'm so pleased with how it turned out!And yes, it's another Lisa Lam bucket bag...I can't help it, they're addictive!
The floral and green dot fabrics are by Amy Butler...the blue on the reverse is a repurposed duvet cover! It's so bright and cheerful - I love it!Secondly, this is a Romance Bag I made as a raffle Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-32199306061824921512012-06-09T19:57:00.001+01:002012-06-09T19:59:22.458+01:00Another bag . . .
This one I actually made a couple of weeks ago, but as it was a present for my Auntie's birthday I couldn't post it anywhere in case she saw it!
It's another Lisa Lam bucket bag (seriously, I can't get enough of these!) made from repurposed fabric.
By all accounts, she was very pleased with it, and I'm so glad!Happy Birthday, Auntie!
Thanks for looking

It was Jamie's Jubilee Picnic at Nursery today, and they all had to wear red white and blue...so he asked me to make him a shirt! How could I refuse? So a couple of days ago, I dug out this quilt cover I'd bought to upcycle, and got cracking on an Easy Linen Shirt from Sewing for Boys!I asked him to put it on for a photo, so with due deference for the occasion, and with a great deal of respect Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-23628845243822323712012-05-10T13:12:00.000+01:002012-05-10T14:38:10.581+01:00A Princely costume for Nursery...
Today was 'Prince/Princess Day' at Jamie's Nursery, so yesterday (I know, last minute lol!) I thought I had probably better sort him out a costume!
I went through my fabric stash, and found some red, gold silk/satin look, and purple velvet (result!) and got to work!First, I made him a very basic rectangles shirt, interfaced the opening at the neck, and added laces...self drafted. Then, a long Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-76496048489726718552012-04-30T21:06:00.002+01:002012-04-30T21:06:40.481+01:00Reversible Bucket Bag - The Bag Making Bible
Looking through my fabric stash the other day, I came up with these 3 fabrics that I thought were perfect together.
So, then I had to decide what to make with them lol!
A while back, I bought The Bag Making Bible by Lisa Lam, so I thought I'd have a go at something from there...I chose the Reversible Bucket bag.
It's a lovely pattern, and deceptively easy to put together - I can see me Lisa (StuffMummyMakes)http://www.blogger.com/profile/02565002261834351180noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2389823899111679903.post-7204371335318550292012-03-30T11:18:00.002+01:002012-03-30T11:32:01.175+01:00Spring Blog Banner
