Knitting!

The past half term holiday, Jamie and I went to my Mum's house for a few days (the Mr. was in L.A.) and while we were there she taught me the basics of how to knit!
I had tried it as a youngster, like you do, and got in a horrible mess...I could knit you a triangle, but anything of the square-ish persuasion and I was stumped!
It had never stopped me wanting to learn though, so we went for it...and I haven't really stopped since!
Here are a few things I've made so far! (Please excuse copious pics of my head!)
A hat and scarf for the J man...he looks like he's telling me exactly what he thinks of them haha!)

And some ear warmers for myself (the bottom one with matching scarf!)

and a hat with matching cowl (but I don't seem to have a pic of the cowl, sorry!)

The lovely Mr. of the house also recently bought me the Cath Kidston Knitting Tin as an early birthday present, so I'm currently working on that!

So that's my knitting journey so far all up to date!
We're getting there ha ha!

Thanks for looking

Christmas Crafts!

So far this year we've (my 6 year old lad Jamie and I!) been cracking on with my plan to have a fully 'hand made' tree...we're not there yet, but hopefully in a couple of years we will be! It was fun pulling out decorations we made last year though!
Here's some of them, last year's and this...

The stocking (yes, that is what that is!), the red stars and the ice skate were all from last year - my hand sewing seems to have improved a little since then haha!
Russell (my long suffering Mr.!) has been on his quest to find the perfect mince pie again this year with a little help from me...we added a little of Captain Morgan's Spiced rum to the mincemeat, and pistachio and cinnamon to the tops....they are delicious! Unfortunately we need to make another batch now, as the last lot seem to have *ahem* been 'scrobbled' by the Christmas elves lol! ('scrobbled' is our favourite word in this house at Christmas...anyone who's seen The Box of Delights will understand!)

I also had a go at making a sock snowman....these are awesome and so easy!
Mine is called Gerald...

Well I think that's Christmas all caught up on so far...I'm sure there will be more to come!
Thanks for looking!

Wow, look at the cobwebs in here!

I think it's about time I came and gave the place a spruce up - not been here in months! As I've said before, I thought I'd have more time on my hands for blogging when the small one was at school, not less! Or maybe I've been spending more time crafting than I have blogging, which seems like a good thing?
But anyway, I'm starting this New Year's resolution early, and over the next few days I'll be sharing some of the crafts I've done, new ones I've picked up since I was last here (like knitting - I love knitting!) and new things I want to try in the next year. I'll catch you up on the saga of my memory quilt (the last post about it was here) and how it's going (yes, it's still not finished!)
So I hope everything is going well with you all, and I look forward to being around a bit more often to share with you!

Thanks for reading!

Getting an early start...

Well for some reason, (and trust me, this NEVER happens!), I'm making an early start on things for that most dreaded of C-words... CHRI...
